Who Let the Dogs Out?

Woo! 27-13! Against the Ravens! Rock ON.

It's been a good Ohio weekend, yes, yes it has. :o)

Go Tribe!

I do have to say, that seeing the words "tied with Boston for the best record in the AL" is not a phrase I'm used to seeing in connection with the Cleveland Indians, but it was a fun phrase to see crawling along the bottom of the screen during the OSU/MN game last night. Yeah, I know, they're 1/2 a game back now, but it was fun while it lasted. And second best record in the AL isn't anything to sneeze at either. Yay for baseball in October!!

Small Town Moment 1

So, my car was having issues so I took it to the mechanic in town, whereupon I found that it needed new rear brakes and an oil change (well, I knew about the oil change- I asked them to do it). This was on Friday and they had to order parts, so it wasn't fixed until Monday. Well, yesterday I spent all day painting out at the job site and it was very hot and I was very tired, plus my landlord decided to resurface my driveway (without telling me, I might add), so I decided not to go get the car, because I really wasn't in the mood to walk the mile and a bit down to the shop.

This morning, I walked down to the shop to pick up the car because I needed it for work today. I happened to walk past an acquaintance's house, and she saw me walking, and she came out to say hi. She said, "Are you going to get your car?" I said that, yes, I was, and how did she know my car was at the shop? Turns out, her husband had seen it in the parking lot of the shop on his way home from work. My boss saw it up in the shop lot, too. It never occurred to me that people might well recognize my car and then ask me about it later. Small town.

Insanity

I'm watching the Buckeye game (they're up 35 to nothing...it's a fun game), and Jim Tressel looks almost....*happy*. This is almost unheard of. Goodness.

5 Things

I'm informed that I don't update often enough. This is true. Things are good, I like living in my new apartment in my new town with my new job. It's fun. Tiring sometimes, but fun. And that's about what's going on- I pretty much have my boring life back and I'm really happy about that. And so...

Five things that I'm happy about this week:
1. "Found" money: I got a refund check for overpaying Cingular somewhere along the line. And I got my travel reimbursement from my training trip to Chicago in July, and got my mileage check. It was a pretty nice chunk of change and pretty much rebuilt my emergency fund, which made me VERY happy. I did splurge a little bit- I bought a new pillow and I'm going to get a massage sometime this week or next week (which is almost more of a medical necessity for me than a luxury, but still).
2. My haircut. It's cute, it's kinda sassy, and it's much cooler in the heat than all that hair was.
3. The weather cooled off dramatically this week. On Friday, I wore jeans, shoes and socks and even a jacket in the morning. I can't remember the last time I wore a jacket, and I don't think I've worn actual shoes other than for working out since moving day in June. I hate being cold, but right now, I think I don't mind.
4. I went "shopping" in the bins under my bed where I keep clothes that are too small, and "bought" two pairs of capris, a pair of pants and 4 or 5 shirts. They're all things I could wear within the last year- I haven't gotten quite to the older things yet, but I'm very happy.
5. I actually did work at the job site on Friday. Well, I frequently am doing work while I'm at the job site, but I did actual work on houses. I screwed receptacles into the walls and put cover plates on, and wired a GCFI outlet (which was a lot easier than I thought it would be). I think we might put the receptacles under the heading of Things Kim Isn't So Great At (not because I'm incapable of it, but because my hands aren't very strong and I had a hard time getting them in there straight), but I had fun anyway.
